About the Blogger...and the Blog

My name is Dale Bremer, Professor of Horticulture at Kansas State University. I teach and conduct research in turfgrass science. I am also a Christian. Most American universities and colleges are secular. However, in this post-modern era, Americans are rejecting the secular ideal...that meaning or a life worth living can be found through science and reason alone. They have also largely rejected traditional religion, which is often remembered or interpreted as oppressive, creativity stifling, smug moralism. Nevertheless, they are interested in the spiritual and eternal, in a sort of "new spirituality".

In the Gospel of John, Jesus Christ and his disciples used the phrase "Come and see" when people had earnest questions about such things. (1) "Come and see" bridges the gap between traditional religion and an ambiguous new spirituality by inviting people to explore for themselves the fantastic and beautiful (and specific) claims of Jesus. (2) His claims are not ambiguous, nor are they just another set of rules. I do not claim to know all the answers to the hard questions of life. But, I believe that God is big enough to handle our big questions, and that the Gospel is truly Good News for all. Therefore, I invite you to "Come and see" along with me!
